The relaxing lounger position is the main feature of the stylish Sukai Futon.

The Sukai offers a sofa position, a bed position and the comfy lounging or reclining position providing a different and useful alternative to the standard 2 seat futons.

The design of the Sukai features a hardwood frame in a light finish and utilises a simple, metal-action, sofabed mechanism to convert into the different positions.

The Futon mattress complements the beech ‘sprung-slat’ platform with a 6-layer futon featuring rebound woolfelt, polyester and traditional cotton.

Futon History
Futons gained popularity in the US in the 1970's - derived from the original Japanese futon, the "shikibuton". Western futons are based on the Japanese original. They are often placed on a configurable frame for dual use as a bed and a chair or sofa. Typically, the frame folds in the middle allowing the futon to be used as a sofa and flattens to be used as a bed.
